Electric Gates are an interesting feature of Park West, but locked Pedestrian gates ?

One side has a combination lock, the other side has a pad lock !?

What are we afraid of ?

Do you know the code for that gate combination ?

Why bother when you can just open the electric gate, or walk in after a car passes.

And, how many times have you seen a car or truck just drive in the exit gate ?

I really don't care if we keep the electric gates or not. My guess is that the first time we face a major street repair, the gates will go away and everyone will agree it makes more sense to let the city maintain the streets. We pay them taxes to do that anyway.

The reason it's even a question is that the city won't take over a road unless it's engineered correctly and in acceptable condition.

I'm not a civil engineer, but I did ask (because I'm looking into a similar issue with the city). Our roads are more than acceptable to the city - properly engineered and plenty wide enough.

The point of the gates is mostly for show. They do keep out stray deer and dogs, but not much else. Anyone who has witnessed an unfamiliar car or truct at our gates has probably also noticed that they know enough to just wait for someone else to open the gates.

If we really want security, the gates won't provide it. We need security cameras, a recording system, and internet access to it. By putting electricity to our Mail Centers, we can do that.

The gate system we have today does little more than slow down all of us from coming and leaving. It's false security. And that metal rail is an annoying reminder everytime you drive over it.

I Agree

I would like to have the city take over maintenance for the streets and either see our monthly PW fee decrease or put to better landscaping.

Also, my gate clicker eats those little batteries.
