I attempted to join one committee in 2002 and to secure the BOD minutes. In 2003 I signed up for 2 committees. I attended one landscaping meeting in 2003 and attempted to correspond with that committee without any success. I don't know what any committees have been doing or if any continue to meet.
A new board should bring some fresh air and some fun to committee meetings.
No committee reports were called for, none were recogonized, but there was a Survey and a form to join new committees that were suggested in the boards' presentation.
The board and Marilyn stated that that ''Survey'' would be mailed to all of the members.
Another member meeting was suggested but not voted on or scheduled.
In the notes, the following committee names were suggested (by the way, if you didn't go to the meeting, you might want to ask for a copy of the PowerPoint file that was presented by Linda Bal - the file should be easier to request than the hardcopies, which appeared to be all passed out). Also, ask for the budget.
COMMITTEE that were suggested:
* Communications
* Landscaping
* By-Laws
* Streets and Gates
* Social Committee
I would suggest a FINANCE committee to keep an eye on our books, contracts, management services, and to direct compeditive bidding for the bigger projects.
In the future, it would be wise to forward the budget summary a month to 6 weeks before the meeting, along with the agenda. The members should have the opportunity to add items to the agenda, too. (When you hand out a 4 page spreadsheet at the begining of a meeting or the previous meeting minutes, you can't expect anyone to analyse it.)
We can fix process and proceedure issues quickly. Apathy will take a little longer.
