One of the selling points for Wilshire and Hammonds was that the houses in Parkwest had tile roofs with Lifetime warranties. What they forgot to say was that you have to register your roof with the company or you warranty is only good for two years. On checking with the Roof Tile company, only two houses in Parkwest are registered. That leaves about 180 out of luck. Warranty had to registered within two years. Seems like both builders screwed up and should have enough clout with the tile maker to allow every one in Parkwest to get their warranty registered in spite of the fact that the two year grace period has passed.

Wilshire Roof Response

I just wanted to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I think all of us (except for two homeowners) are obviously all in the same boat here. Luckily, we are one of the few that have been here for less than two years. I wrote to Wilshire about this issue and they responding immediately the following....

(1st Response)
Thank you so much for letting us know about this. I have forwarded your questions on to Mr. Morrisett, the Building Unit Leader of our southern division. He will be able to either answer all of these questions himself or forward me on to the person who can. It might be useful if you could let me know who your new home consultant and you interior consultants were.

As for the Builder Information, it is:

Wilshire Homes of Texas, Ltd.
8200 North MoPac, Suite 300
Austin, TX 78759

We should be able to get back to you very shortly with the remaining information you need.

I will also be certain to emphasize to the importance of notifying the remaining 180 homeowners to Mr. Morrisett. Again, we really appreciate you for bringing this to our attention. It appears that we may not have known about this issue otherwise.

Sincerely,

Christina Newton

Mr. Morrisett has already taken the time to personally forwarded this to our warranty department. You will probably be contacted by Jack or Mary from that department within the next few days. Also, Mr. Morrisett is having a letter drafted to go out to all of the Circle C Parkwest homeowners a.s.a.p.

If for some reason you have not been contacted by someone in our warranty department by the end of this week, please don't hesitate to let me know. I want to make certain that this information gets to you soon.

With much appreciation,

Christina Newton

So it looks as if everyone will be receiving a letter from Wilshire (although I don't know about Hammonds Homes) about their roof. I don't know what they plan to do for the folks who are over their two year grace period, but I believe they will work something out with the tile company. For those of you who are going to register on-line with Monier Lifetile http://www.monierlifetile.com/
you must have this information:
1) Builder Information- Name, Address, City, State, and Zip
2) Contractor Information- Name, Address, City, State and Zip
3) Product Information- Name, Profile, Color
(obviously it is our roof tile, but what is the specifics of it?)
4) Date of installation?

I believe this will apply to all of us except for the date of installation...
1. Builder Information: Wilshire Homes, Ltd., 8200 N. Mopac, Suite 300, Austin, TX 78759

2. Contractor Information: Barker Roofing, Don Barker, 8614 Hillmoobe Road, Austin, TX 78710
512-243-5244 Fax: 512-243-5241

3. Product Information: Monier Lifetile -- Blend: 50% Casa Grande, 25% Chestnut Burnt, and 25% Terra Cotta

I hope this helps somewhat and that everyone gets what they were promised!

Any news??

I have not heard anymore about the roof warranty /no letter from Wilshire. Has anyone else?
Re:Warranty

Not sure what the deal is with Wilshire. I wrote them a follow up email and have not heard back from them yet. I will certainly let you know what I find out. I also asked them about Hammonds residents. I wasn't sure if they were going to send letters out to everyone or just Wilshire homes.
