Developers DID not save trees

I just want to mention that the developers in my area of CCR DID NOT SAVE THE TREES. I confronted them on numerous occasions when they were still building around my house. I watched them bulldoze MANY, MANY trees mid size and small in order to make it easier and cheaper for the development to take place. I also saw them ramming into large Oaks, Cedar Elms etc. with their backhoes with no concern or respect for OUR trees. I also want to mention a neighbor who told me their Builder would not flip their house in order to put the garage on the other side to save a HUGE oak without the owner paying 10,000.00 to do it! I swear, I am not making this story up.

So please, sign the petition and ask HEB/Stratus NOT to make this development look like Endeavors over on Slaughter/Brodie and the HEB on William Cannon.

They could have done a lot more to save many of the trees. Let?’s ask them NOT to just put their pocket books first!

BTW, I heard that Stratus, Beau Armstrong loves trees and has a commitment to SAVE THEM. Lets see if he does what he says!

Where IS that Master Plan ?

Too many developers leave the trees to the mercy of their poorly educated subcontractors. What I'm afraid that we are going to see is that Startus and H-E-B go in to this project with honorable intentions, but without any worries about financial concequences tied to development ''mistakes''.

Opps, the bulldozers ''accidently'' bumped off a clump of mature live Oaks here, or the cement truck didn't think there would be a problem dumping half a ton of concrete on some other poor tree.

Then they hire some ''Tree Surgeon'' who is better at trimming trees and grinding stumps that preserving the natural landscape. We end-up with doezens of hastely planted replacement trees like H-E-B did at Brodie Lane (and too many of them died from neglect). Anyway, replacement trees won't make much difference for the first 20 years.

Then there is the retention pond. Remember, retention ponds are not the solution, they are an unfortunate concequence of over buiding in the first place. The last thing we need is another giant hole on Slaughter Lane with an ugly 6 foot cinderblock wall around it. (No wonder Wal-Mart thought their cinderblock big box would be right at home in Circle C Ranch !!)

What happened to our Master Plan ??
