Ken Rigsbee's Response

Posted in: Circle C
That hypocrite likes to talk big

This is the same Ken Rigsbee who said, ''God help Austin in January 1999. It's going to be nasty. We have not seen Austin-bashing yet.'' Austin American-Statesman (AAS), December 19, 1997. He also complained about the city withholding information from him. ''Ken Rigsbee chairs the annexation committee of the Circle C Homeowners Association and was a plaintiff in a lawsuit filed last week to delay a public hearing on the city's annexation of the 4,661-acre area. Using information from a lawsuit fought last spring by the city to regain its right to annex Circle C, the association has tried to analyze the financial implications of annexation. 'We can't do anything without the underlying premises,' Rigsbee said. 'All of our calculations show an immediate loss. Then it gets worse for 20 years. ... If they're in litigation, all this information is going to become public anyway. I've about concluded that there's just a whole lot of things they don't want to share. And I think that's just too bad.''' AAS, November 13, 1997. By the way, the annexation Rigsbee fought so hard against was part of the original plan for Circle C. What's Rigsbee got against being in the city of Austin? And how's this for hypocrisy? ''Ken Rigsbee, president of the Circle C neighborhood's political action committee, dropped off a letter protesting the clerk's decision [not to verify signatures on petitions to allow city council incumbents to avoid term-limits]. Rigsbee said numerous Austinites want proof that the incumbents actually got around the term-limit regulations that voters approved in 1994. 'I think this is a flagrant injustice,' Rigsbee said.'' AAS, March 21, 2002.

And get a load of this from the August 12, 1998 AAS. ''Speculation has it that the Circle C subdivision, which furiously fought annexation, will offer a candidate to run against someone, most likely Slusher. But Ken Rigsbee, a lobbyist who heads the area's political action committee, said it likely won't happen. 'I don't think I would subject anyone who lives out there to the rigors of a campaign, particularly against Slusher,' Rigsbee said. 'But we will certainly be involved.''' Who does he think he is to decide whether someone from Circle C can run for elective office? For more Rigsbee tough talk see the AAS, March 23, 2000. ''In an e-mail message to all council members, Ken Rigsbee, chairman of the association's steering committee, wrote that if [city council member] Griffith intended to kill the agreement, the consequences would be 'severe.' Several homeowners have already suggested that association officers make appointments to meet with Perry, Texas House Speaker Pete Laney and other state officials, Rigsbee wrote. 'We have a chance -- and I think our only chance -- to finally work together to reach a meaningful accord that will preserve and protect not only our environment, but also the quality and viability of our community at Circle C,' Rigsbee wrote. 'I have devoted too much time and energy to this effort to sit idly by and see it squandered away.'?”

Now, he says he's opposed to Wal-Mart, but here are his true feelings. '''What we need are highways; we don't need any more parks,' Rigsbee said. 'We have more parks than we can look after.' AAS, June 15, 2000. And from the AAS, February 14, 2002, ''Ken Rigsbee, the association's secretary-treasurer, said he cannot remember the association opposing a development in the area.'' And this from the June 28, 2002 AAS. '''It's the typical circus; the environmental extremists have gotten a bunch of people to show up,' Rigsbee said, appraising the crowd [at a city council meeting].''

I have some Rigsbee speek.

''Whatever you say or do?….will be remembered!'' -Ken Rigsbee
UT/Dr. Fowler's Architectural Engineering introductory class in 2002

At a televised City Council hearing about the Escarpment to Hwy 45 issue on March 20th, 2003 Ken Rigsbee made some promises. A group of Homeowners had a petition against Escarpment in hand, about 350 signed this petition within the few days before the BOD shut down the mail center petition drive. To counter the 350 against Escarpment, Rigsbee offered up some promises to the Mayor & City Council.

?• Ken Rigsbee promised to deliver documentation of his legitimacy and his friends on the board to Mayor Garcia and City Council.

?• Ken Rigsbee promised to deliver ''hundreds of Escarpment Extension support e-mails'' to Mayor Garcia and City Council.

Recently, through the open records act, Bill Gammon was able to find out what was received by the Mayor. Nothing was ever received. Nothing was ever delivered from Ken Rigsbee to the city council or to the Mayor.

Why not?

1. There is NO documentation to show there ever was a legal election that follows our CCHOA governing documents.

2. There are not hundreds of Escarpment Extension support e-mails. Many people have asked to see them, but have been given excuses instead of actual emails.

Ken also told the council that the majority of votes in the CCHOA went to the residents in 1991 via a letter from Mr. Bradley and not in December of 2002 as all of us understood from our governing documents. This Bradley letter has yet to surface or be seen by anyone at all.

POSITIVE SUGGESTION: Our BOD needs to be accountable for promises made. Our BOD should not lie to City Council, the mayor, a judge or the members of the CCHOA.

QUESTION: Can anyone, anyone at all in our community support these deceptive fabrications? Susan Zachgo? anyone? Please speak up, tell us why you think this is OK.

To Ken Rigsbee again...!

Mr. Rigsbee,

I am still waiting for your answer. Who has been pocketing OUR rental income?

Did your defense lawyers ask you to keep your mouth shut? You surely look like a defendant already.

I have forwarded your angry e-mail to the DA Office. In case if there is anything bad happened to me, the investigators will knock on your door!

Ask John Stratford

Somebody should ask John Stratford, 10406 Walpole, 288-6996, the third homeowner in Circle C, what he thinks of Ken Rigsbee. He could write a book.
