STEVE URBAN - a Trial Lawyer

Does anyone not see the irony in the fact that we entrust juries to impose the death penalty but not to impose damage awards. Essentially, they are qualified to kill someone but not fine them?!?!?!?!?!?

LISA SUN - a Circle C Homeowner

There is a big difference here. Death penalty is to punish the criminals who caused the harm/death of others. These criminals deserve this ultimate punishment. The death of these criminals causes no ?“side-effect?” on others; it only makes the society safer.

Damage Awards are the $$$ coming from the insurance companies, not directly from the wrongdoers?’ pockets. Huge damage awards will cause an unpleasant ?“side-effect?” on all the insurance policy holders, which means WE will all be punished for the mistakes other people made.

Here is a good example:
If we sue our Directors of the Board for their wrongdoing, guess who will really be punished?

We, homeowners, purchased the liability insurance. The Directors will use this Association insurance to compensate for their wrongdoing. In the future we will have to pay high premium for this insurance, which means we will be victimized TWICE. This is called adding insult to injury. That is why I would rather take BOD?’s wrongdoing directly to the law enforcers. I want these SOB pay a price for the sins they have committed!
