HEB / Double-Edged Sword

Posted in: Circle C
I must say - I was a little surprised at the quality of the development plan. I really believe there was some actual thought that went into the design, and Stratus / HEB do appear willing to listen. While there wasn't much opportunity to ask questions during the meeting - Reps for both companies did stick around for extensive discussions one on one...
That being said - the plan IS NOT perfect, and contains some big holes. The issue of traffic on Escarpment south of Slaughter was basically swept under the rug! For some reason, no one seems willing to openly discuss steps to curb the expected cut-through traffic. I guess doing so would be an admission that extending Escarpment south of 45 really was a dumb idea...Let's see how our neighbors react when Escarpment becomes a drag strip for all the mini-vans of Northern Hays County!
There are also issues involving access points along Slaughter and the extended Escarpment. I hate to think of how tough it will be to make a left turn going into or out of the place! According to Stratus, the city is prohibiting the construction of additional traffic signals - so it's gonna' be a big pain - especially during the PM commute.
Oh well - I guess it could be worse. Probably much worse. I know the majority of us want the HEB and will probably love the store when it opens. But we should admit that once construction begins, there's no going back. If you can't handle the traffic congestion and other problems of the folks ''in town'' - now is the time to put the house up for sale!
Correction...

I meant extending Escarpment TO 45 was a dumb idea. Extending south of 45 is an even DUMBER idea...one that various interested parties also hope to break ground on in the next few years...

Shame on Jim O'Reilly!

Extending Escarpment was not a good idea. The planned 3,000 houses south of 45, on the extended Escarpment will be a nightmare for Circle C'ers.

It was clear last night, that our CCHOA president is being paid off by Stratus. It's outrageous how Jim O'Reilly kept the residents from speaking at the meeting. Shame on Jim O'Reilly! Isn't what he's doing illegal?
