Despite the overwhelming opposition to the TxDOT toll road plan (thumbs down by over a ten to one majority), Mayor Will Winn and others have decided to offer what they are calling a ''compromise'' solution that would give TxDOT the green light to toll every single roadway in the plan.

This is no compromise. It is a sell out to special interests at our expense. They still plan to toll the William Cannon overpass.

Don't be fooled by this ''compromise.'' It's a lot of doubletalk aimed at doubletax.

There's more. Despite conservative estimates of more than a thousand citizens showing up to the Joe Thompson conference center (26th @ Red River), CAMPO has not reserved the large auditorium next door at the LBJ Library to accommodate everyone. Plans are afoot by the minority toll road special interest groups to fill the small auditorium early to keep us out and our opposition unheard.

WE CANNOT LET THIS HAPPEN

SHOW UP at the CAMPO meeting by 5:30 tonight to get a seat inside. Let our elected officials know that WE WILL NOT BE IGNORED.

They ignored us alright.

It is time to organize an expanded opposition to the toll road plan. I would like to have a neighborhood meeting and invite other neighborhood groups to join us.

There are several different approaches being discussed, everything from attacking the legitimacy of the vote to organizing a recall of the board.
