I do not know of any large organization that doesn't have a code of ethics or some similar policy that directs and guides how the business operations and decisions are performed. In fact, many organizations are required to have the codes or policies to meet basic regulatory or accreditation requirements.

The only reason for not having such a code of ethics or policy is when people who run the organization are afraid of ''losing their power'', they may be doing something inappropriate and don't want to be found out, or they are simply ignorant to the ways of common business these days.

In my view, any person who does not want a code of ethics and will not abide by conflict of interest statements is not a leader and definitely should not be running a $1 million plus organization of any kind. A nonleader is not the type of person I want running a homeowners association.

Clearly the current CCHOA BOD have not thought much of a code of ethics or they would have implemented one by now. They were provided a draft of an excellent code last summer. Like the draft Bylaws revisions, the code of ethics has been sat on for over six months. A good attorney could have had these documents reviewed in less than a month. The Board could have had them out for CCHOA member review and voting long before now. Any reason the Board projects for not having these documents in effect now is simply an excuse without valid activities to support the excuse.

Think about it. Do the right thing.

1. Vote Tuesday for 9 board members.
2. Write-in vote for Quentin Fennessy.
3. Vote for Code of Ethics.
4. Vote to move CCHOA forward.
5. Tell your friends and neighbors.
