HEB proceeds as planned ?!%

Posted in: Circle C
Hello All:

I received the following response from HEB on Jan. 27th regarding my concerns about an excessively large HEB. If you interested in knowing what they are thinking...read along.

Again...it sounds like HEB is going to do...what they want to do...regardless of what homeowners want. Ughh!

Jan. 27th Note from Martin Otto of HEB regarding the proposed Circle C HEB
----
Dear Mr. Martinez,

Thanks for your note.

As a quick follow-up, here are highlights from the neighborhood meeting last
week.

I shared that our plan will include non-food General Merchandise space that is
the same as at our Brodie/Wm Cannon store.

We will not be expanding the footage for that product, which I know was a
concern for a number of residents.

I should note that the Photo area may be slightly larger, given the increasing
digital photo business and assortment. If so, the increased space will not be
significant.

In terms of store size, we are planning to build a 93k square foot store. The
increase in size vs the Brodie store, which is a little over 82k square feet,
is to provide more space to shop comfortably, as well as additional space for
better variety. In particular, the variety in produce, seafood, and organic
and natural products will be greater.

Essentially, this will be a very complete food store, with a full line drug
store (pharmacy, over the counter medications, and other products we carry at
the Brodie store).

There were some other topics covered, including the look and design of the
water retention pond as well as some conversation about traffic levels.

Based on the question and answer period, during which we fielded a number of
questions, and also based on conversations I had with a number of residents
after the meeting, I am hopeful that we were able to provide specific answers
to questions, and that those answers are acceptable to the large majority of
those who attended.

If I have failed to address any of your questions, please feel free to email
me.

Thanks,
Martin Otto

Which HEB?

Thanks for sharing this. To confirm, this is in reference to the planned HEB at Slaughter and Escarpment?
