Makeover of Weedy DONUT

After enduring this weed infested land for exactly ten years, I was excited to learn that the Association has finally decided to landscape it. I am grateful to all the new Board members who have given attention to this matter after serving only three months on the board.

This Landscape Proposal is good, however, I noticed that there is one item missing in this proposal which is the watering of the plants. If this piece of land is going to be non-irrigated land, who is going to be responsible for hand watering those plants? All plants need water including the drought tolerant plants. New plants need watering more often before their roots are well established which could take up to one to two years. So, who is going to hand water those plants? If this piece of land will be checked and maintained weekly for weeds, I suggest maybe the landscaper can also do the hose watering as well.

The question is which house should supply the water? Let me think?… I strongly believe that 6704 Edwardson Cove should provide water for those plants because this house was owned by Gary Bradley and this median was constructed for him; it was the extension of his front yard.

There are two items to support my belief.

There are many cul-de-sac streets in Circle C. However, Edwardson Cove is the only one that has a median. The reason there is one here is because Gary Bradley lived here.

When Gary Bradley was living at Edwardson Cove, I saw with my own eyes that Circle C Landscape Co. (white truck with that C logo) had maintained his front yard, backyard and this median weekly. After Gary Bradley moved away, the landscaper crew disappeared as well.

Gary Bradley?’s house has never been sold since he moved away. It is now a rental property which is managed by Oak Hill Realty.

I'm glad you have a new plan for the area Lisa.

Here is my suggestion: If they do not have a plan to water the plants, maybe you can water them 2 times a week for the 1st 3 weeks and then once a week for the next 2 months...

or they can plant the new plants in the fall and nobody needs to water them.

I'd suggest you call or email the info center to discuss the options with Susan Hoover.

Thank you for the suggestion. However, your suggestion is not acceptable to me and to my neighbors.

First, I want to let you know that I only live nine months of the year in this country and live the rest of the year on the other side of the earth.

Secondly, no homeowner at Edwardson Cove would be willing to contribute his/her time to maintain Gary Bradley?’s front yard extension. For all these years we have paid full association dues just like all of you do. But, we have been short-changed by being stuck with this piece of weedy, raw land. Maybe you don?’t realize that we are still simmering with indignation towards the Association and that irresponsible old Board (Jim O?’Reilly, Steve Bartlett, Ken Rigsbee, Susan Hoover).

Finally, I want you to know that CCHOA has a choice. The Association can treat this piece of common area like ALL the other common areas by installing a sprinkler system or pay the landscape crew for its extra services like watering the plants by hand.

I did see the landscaper crew hose watering the oak trees when Gary Bradley was living here. If they could do that then, why can?’t they do it now?

Lastly, who told you that plants planted in the fall DO NOT NEED water?
