In early September of the next school year, when everyone is trying to recoever from a summer schedule and getting back into the school routines and homework, please don't forget to take your 20 minutes to go vote for the new AISD bond package.

You must first get registered to vote. Sounds like a no-brainer, but when was the last time you saw your voter's card ?

Here's an idea - get your voters card and tape it ot the September calendar.

Because, come next September, none of the gray haired seniors are going to be bothered with voting. Oh, they may voter early if there are in a Mall or grocery store with an early voting booth, but frankly, there is noting in the School bond package to motivate them.

Similarly, college age kids and those without kids, aren't going to vote in September. Everyone will be focused on the exciting national content in November.

So, while you are busy buying school supplies, clothes, and new soccer uniforms, you had better make a commitment to go vote for the bonds.

This has been one of the most expensive years for new and increased taxes.

It's going to be hard to sell bonds in that kind of environment, and certainly, few people are going to make the effort. But, as you have seen right here in Oak Hill, the difference of a few hundered votes will make or break a huge project.

Parents - you and your kids need these new schools, new classrooms, new science facilities, new computers, and the local community needs the contracts to build this stuff.

If you forget to vote, you risk losing it all - imagine, another two years with absolutlely no money for replacing those trailers that some of your kids are already using. If this bond package fails, you won't even have the lot for a new middle school - it will have apartments on it in two years time!

This is YOUR turn to do something for your family - your kids.

If you don't make this bond package pass, it just won't.

Just 20 minutes of your time, and so you don't wait until the last moment, why don't you plan to vote absentee.

We'll be here to remind you, but we can't vote for you. ONLY YOU CAN REGISTER YOUR VOTE IN SEPTEMBER

Russ you could not be more wrong

Russ, you could not be more wrong.
Furthermore, not all seniors have gray hair. And, we are a very important, voting segment of the community.

Let me give you the reasons why I make it a priority to vote and why the bond is important to me even though my kids have already been through the school
system.

1) I do not want to see my neighbors' kids bused across town when they could attend a close-by school with community support and participation.

2) The new schools in Circle C ranch will help improve our property value.

3) I want us all to get our fair share of the horrendous AISD taxes we pay.

4) Additional local schools will provide additional locations for community meetings, etc.

5) The children being educated now will be important to all of us when they enter the economy, professions, military, trades, services etc in the future. Their education is a high priority.

6) I believe we must ALL vote in order to demonstrate that we have power at the ballot box. Politicians will listen when they know WE ALL VOTE.
