We are currently RENTING a property in the Avonshire neighborhood. We are having a problem with brown RATS in our front yard. This is not the first time we have seen rats in the neighborhood -- earlier this summer we saw one scurry into the far neighbors yard under his gate -- but last week was the first time they've been in OUR yard! We are VERY clean, so this is not a cleanliness issue. We cover our trash lid, take our garbage to the curb on garbage day, the inside of our home is extremely clean and disinfected from top to bottom.
Our issue is: We are not the owners, therefore, we do not have the power to handle this ourselves. We do not have direct contact with the landlord, rather, the property is managed by a 'property group' who has to have everything approved first by the owner.
The property group says they have to get the owners approval before anything is done about the RATS. In the meantime, my husband put down poison packs all over the front yard, and at least one RAT has died we took photos and requested someone come remove it -- but there's no telling how long this could take and I absolutely do NOT want to TOUCH it!!! I also contacted the Maryland Board of Health today, and they are scheduled to send a health inspector out to determine the cause of the problem. From what I have seen, the RATS are coming in and out of the broken down shed in front of our home -- a shed that, again, we complained about when we first moved in saying it should be torn down, but the owner did not approve. |
Can SOMEONE of power and influence in the housing association help us?? We want an inspector/exterminator to determine WHERE these rats are coming from, make sure they are completely exterminated/eliminated, we want the shed torn down, and the entire area treated for the problem. This is not just a problem for us, its a problem for EVERYONE!! Rats carry disease, they bite, they smell terrible --this is just a BAD situation and we need HELP!?!?!?!?!??!!?
