I was born and raised in bahama beach, I was there when the kids had to walk to bayside beach rd to catch the school bus. I was there when the roads were gravel, I was there when there was only summer houses and city people called us Water Rats. I was there when Pasadena and Alpine Beach were alive and active on the weekends they were the place for city people to visit. I lived there before the small cottages were torn down and huge two story houses were built. I lived there when we could walk the shore line and catch soft crabs that we would sell to make candy money, I was there when we would pick black berries and blue berries from the surrounding woods. I knew every inch of Bahama Beach, I have relatives that still live in the area. I see that there are still some of the old names still in the beach. I remember the Hutts, Harts, Coles and several others. It saddens me to see that Bahama Beach has lost its appeal, What happen I see houses that are unkept, run down. Its sad, I miss this community and I ride thru often.
