A neighbor on Baker Farm Drive called the police at 3:00 a.m. this morning. There were two white females--long blonde hair--15 or 16 years of age-- prowling around the yards and taking lawn items from one yard to another. The teens had disappeared by the time the police arrived, so they were not apprehended.
If you have teenagers, please let them know that while this may seem harmless to them, if someone mistook them for a real burglar, there could be serious consequences. Many homeowners have guns or other means of self-defense, and are not afraid to use them if they feel their home or family is being threatened.
We are asking everyone in the neighborhood to keep their eyes and ears alert to juveniles out at night. This incident might be tied into the other break-ins last month.
Joan Perris planted a few more plants at the front yesterday morning.
Vernon Carter has been working on getting an estimate for installing a separate water meter to track and bill water usage on the front entrance. He is talking to the water company and some contractors.
It appears that the system on the left side (looking from Semple Farm Rd) of the entrance is fully operational, and will only require some minor adjustments after the water is turned on. That system is not integrated with the home-owner's system, as we had thought. This will simplify the meter installation and make it less expensive too.
For the other side, it appears that the only expense that we'll incur is the additional water meter and a repair to some sprinkler heads. We'll provide more information on the costs and requirements as we go.
We are still waiting for a landscaper to provide our last estimate in order to turn in the grant appllication. We are hoping to hear from him sometime this week.
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms in the neighborhood!
