Baker Farm at Wythe Creek

1/11/07 Community Fund meeting minutes

First Meeting of 2007

Approximately 20 neighbors were in attendance at our first meeting for the new year. The officers gave reports on progress made with the front end, contributions and the web site.

President?’s Report ?– Joan Perris

1. Talked about the organization name, bank account was established.
2. Mulching was done and flowers were planted but the deer are eating them.
3. We want to start planning what to do to the front entrance in the spring.

Treasurer?’s Report ?– Rhonda Rolland

1. We have collected about $800 from neighbors.
2. We spent some funds on mulching and flowers. Currently we have about $500 in the account.
3. She is keeping a confidential ledger of all contributions for tracking purposes.
4. A few neighbors were unable to give $50 so they gave a smaller amount. This is fine. Contributions are voluntary; $50 is the recommended amount but if you don’t have it, any amount is gladly accepted and appreciated.
5. Six neighbors made their $50 contributions as we discussed this! Great work, folks! That brings our account balance to around $800.

Web Site and Secretary’s Report – Claudia Pillich
1. Explained who Neighborhood Link is and the purposes and capabilities of the web site.
2. The coordinator (Claudia) cannot see who has joined the site. This is done by Neighborhood Link to protect people’s privacy. If you have joined the site, please send Claudia an email so she can keep track.
6. Please fill out a profile in the “Meet Your Neighbors” link so we can get to know you.
7. Claudia agreed to send “How to Join Baker Farm” emails to several people present.
8. If you would like to help as a site coordinator, please send an email to or call Claudia.
9. A good use for the site is to list contractors (painters, carpenters, plumbers), mortgage brokers, and other professionals that they have used and recommend.
10. Several neighbors asked to be added to the email address list.

Other Topics
1. We discussed the incidents with kids being around houses at night and writing graffiti on a neighbor’s door.
2. Someone said there is graffiti on the back fence of one of the houses that backs up to Semple Farm Rd. The homeowner will investigate and talk to the police if necessary.
3. It was brought up that the city of Hampton has neighborhood grants available for funding neighborhood improvement projects. They will match the funds a group raises for a specific project. A committee was formed to look into this.
4. Volunteers for the committee are: Claudia Pillich, Iris Borden, Ron Clark, Ed Kist, and Venoid Robertson. Ron agreed to head up the committee. The first meeting will be held Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 4:00 pm.
