BATTLEMONT NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION AD HOC COMMITTEE MEETING
A meeting of the ad hoc committee was held on November 3, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., to plan for the upcoming year. Those present were: Donna Crawford, Jocelyn Kasper, Jonathan Kasper, Wynona Lurie, Hasan Obedala, Cathy Pierce and Barb Short.
Donna Crawford gave an update on the ongoing construction on her block of Battlefield Drive.
The committee addressed the following subjects:
+ Election of leadership for the neighborhood association.
+ Plans for the end of year party for 2007 and meeting dates for 2008.
+ The newsletter and the web site of the neighborhood association.
+ Possible projects for the neighborhood for the year 2008.
1. The December meeting will be a holiday party on Monday, Dec. 10th, at Second
Presbyterian Church on Belmont Blvd. The alternate date will be Dec. 3rd. Barb Short will reserve the room for that meeting.
2. Other meetings for the year 2008 will be Mondays: Feb. 11th, May 12th, August 5th, and December 8th.
3. At this year's holiday party, cookies and drinks will be served and drawings for door prizes will be held.
4. The February meeting will be a chili supper and business meeting. The May meeting will also be a business meeting. The August meeting is the Night Out Against Crime.
5. BNA will return to operating under the bylaws of the association, and to Roberts Rules of Order. Barb Short will email the bylaws to people in the neighborhood. Hasan Obedala volunteered to read the bylaws and offer comments to other committee members. All the leadership positions in the association are open for anyone in the neighborhood who would like to serve. Information about upcoming elections and the process will be published in the next flyer, to be distributed before the December meeting, and will also be available at the December meeting. Elections will be tentatively held at the May meeting. Positions open are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, and Recording Secretary.
6. Barb Short said that some people in the neighborhood have expressed an interest in working on the newsletter and the web site. The next flyer will mention those openings.
7. Possible projects for the neighborhood are traffic calming, curtailing dumping on Battlefield Drive, neighborhood trash pickup and bulk item pickup, and fundraising for the association treasury. One, or maybe two, of those would be enough for the coming year.
8. Jocelyn Kasper volunteered to write a newsletter to be distributed with the next flyer, which needs to go out a week or ten days before the December meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:00 noon.
