Our neighborhood watch was established in 1980 and has been continuous ever since. The Neighborhood Watch is a program within the Tampa Police Department District 2 - Sector D, Crime Prevention Unit. The main goal is to education our residents about crime prevention and to share information and reduce crime in our area.
Revised 12/15/08 jt
Our program consists of one volunteer coordinator, 8 volunteer block leaders of an approximately 500 residential area. We do not elect officers to our program. Coordinators volunteer thru Tampa Police Dept District 2 - Sector D, and have a yearly background check to be allowed to remain active as coordinators. Coordinators do not receive pay for any of the activities they perform.
Anyone wishing to serve as a block leader on their blocks should email the coordinator.
Revised 12/15/2008- jt
Tampa Police Department Crime Prevention would like if possible to have 2 yearly meetings but it is not necessary as long as coordinators have an email groups to keep our programs active. We are required to communicate with our area membership the information provided to us, by TPD D2 and others. Grid 60 Membership is determined by meeting attendance and email request by neighbors to be added to our email list. We will also serve others who wish to be included on our email list.
