Block Leader Responsibilities and Blocks that have block leaders: (per handbook)
Responsibilities:
You are not to have a criminal background to be a block leader also.
1. Assist the Neighborhood Watch Cooridinator or Co-Coordinator with all aspects of organizing and maintaining the Neighborhood Watch Group I.E. :
1a. Notify all NHW members and potential members of all NHW meeting times, dates, and locations, etc. and encouraging them to attend.
1b. Distributing NHW flyers, invitations, brochures, and monthly crime statistices to all members and residents of the NHW group.
1c Establishing an up to date list of all persons in your block group and keeping the coordinator / co-coordinators informed of all the changes to the list. The list should contain the address and phone numbers of the member's home and place of employment. E-Mail addresses and Fax numbers can be included.
1d Welcoming new residents moving into your block group area and providing them with all available NHW information.
2. Act as a Liaison between the NHW group members, residents and the Coordinators.
3 Encourage all of your Block Group members to participate in Operation Identification and provide them with an engraver and an Operation Identification brochure both available free by the Tampa Police Department.
4. Serve as a temporary substitute for the coordinator in times or absences, sickness, and vacation etc.
5. Attend occasional Block Leader Meetings as deemed necessary by the Coordinator or yourself.
6. Host a special Block Group meeting if necessary.
We are in need of block leaders throughout the area. We are in need for additional coordinators also.
