I think we need to follow the example of Lavaca Neighborhood and post information about the crime in our Beacon Hill neighborhood. There was a day time breakin next door to me this past week. Someone pulled boards off the alley fence and entered through the back door.
We need extra patrols especially in the alleys. As I was helping my neighborhood after this break in, I discovered that someone has been dumping trash in the alley behind my house. I have a privacy fence so could not see it from my yard. This was a terrible mess - all kinds of trash, broken glass, dirty diapers, etc.
The graffitti is not getting any better either.
I know these are desperate times for some people but we still need to respect each other's personal property and try to improve our neighborhood.
I challenge others in this neighborhood to report crime, graffitti or suspicious activity to the police and to eah other. Maybe this is one way we can begin at the ground floor to regain the safety we all desire.
