Bedford Park

Bedford Park is situated in Arlington, VA, conveniently located less than a mile from the Clarendon Metro Station (orange line), as well as bike/jogging paths, and major interstates (66, 395, and 495). Bedford Park is a 120 unit stacked townhouse community on North Bedford Street in Arlington, VA, established in 1983. Our property consists of 120 stacked townhouse units, ranging in size from one to two bedrooms, one or two levels, and hosting a variety of models that include features such as decks and patios.

Lyon Park

Bedford Park is situated in the historic community known as Lyon Park. Lyon Park is represented by the Lyon Park Citizens Association, a nonprofit, non-partisan organization established to promote the welfare and advancement of the Lyon Park Community in particular and Arlington County in general. The LPCA newsletter and the LPCA website provide a wealth of information including:

About our association

Governance

Bedford Park is governed by a Unit Owners Association led by an elected three member board of Directors, as well as volunteers recruited and assigned by voting board members to assist with special projects and property management.

Bedford Park is governed by a set of documents and laws, including:

•Virginia Condominium Act - The law supersedes any conflicting clause in the governing documents.

•Declaration – Bedford Park’s Declaration basically defines the condominium, the unit boundaries and defines terms utilized in the other documents.

•Bylaws - Bedford Park’s Bylaws describes how the condominium is to be governed. Bylaws can only be changed by a vote of ownership.

•Resolutions - Bedford Park’s Resolutions are statements passed by the board of directors providing more details on the governance of the condominium, expanding on powers granted by the other documents, and do not require a vote of the ownership.

Community Policies

From a practical perspective, community policies put some common sense guidelines in place to guide day to day living in our community. Community Policies can be amended or changed by the Board of Directors without a vote of ownership. Community Policies included on this site (under Community Pages) include guidance on issues such as:

Major Timelines/Deadlines:

Monthly:
Condominium monthly dues (referred to as regular assessments in Bylaws) are due on the first day of every month. Monthly dues as of September 2009 are $250/month per unit.

January:
If monthly dues are increased in the new fiscal year, changes will occur beginning January 1st of the new year.

August:
Association budget development for the coming year begins around August/September.

November:
The budget for the coming year is approved and distributed to owners 45 days in advance of the new fiscal year - around mid-November (per Bylaws, Article V, Section 1(b)).

December:
An annual owners meeting is conducted at the beginning of December (dates determined each year around September).
