Writing down tag numbers
Wow, that's a great idea. I'm going to put a pad and pen nearby the front window and in the garage when I'm out there, keep the pen on a string and the pad nailed down so I can find it when I need it.
Hey, we need to get together on this. I can create a Google spreadsheet whereby we can log the tag numbers, time and date and anything else we can get, car color make and model, etc.

Digital camera pics too
I just thought of this idea also. I always carry my compact digital camera with me in my pocket. Not always while at home but I might think about it now. Or, even get a second used one on eBay and just keep it handy in the garage or somewhere nearby so I can grab it.

X10.COM, great cameras
Go to this site to find some economical security cameras and other interesting stuff for use. I have used their camera over the years and have had great success with them. I paid $79 for a small color camera that I installed over the driveway of my house where I could watch the neighbor's children while they played in the street and sometimes on my property. They soon figured out I had the camera and they made faces at it for a couple days. I used a security recoder that uses a hard drive to record the daily activity. It's amazing how much video will record on a hard drive. I had about eight days worth before it would overwrite the old stuff. The fast foward button got used a lot as each day I would look over what was happening in the street.
Another thing, it was easy to hook up as I bought the wireless transmitter/receiver combo whereby I didn't have to install any wires. It was easy to set up and use and gave great service and clear audio and picture. Most of the cameras come with built in microphones. I could almost make out what was being said when the kids sat and talked across the street.
The only thing is, where do you put the monitor and the recorder, right? Well, I bought a small color tv with a composite video/audio input and just placed it on top of my center next to me big tv and kept it on. I could keep an eye on things out of the corner of my eye while watching tv. The kids soon became used to my 'kid watch' when I would run out and tell them to not play ball or run up and down my driveway while they were in the act. The foolishness soon stopped.
The camera is good for watching for those pesky solicitors that don't know how to read the 'No Solicitors' signs.
Okay, go to www.x10.com and check out all the neat stuff. They have lots of tutorial or how-to pages too. Post back here what you get and how it's working for you. We might want to start a group and help each other figure out what to buy and then help install the stuff.
