By now everyone should have received the ballot, survey and President's letter that was mailed out by our property manager, Greenacres, Inc. I received mine this past Saturday, 2/27/10. The board wanted to get some input from the residents so a survey was put together to do this. We hope everyone will take some time to complete it and send it back in the self stamped addressed envelope provided along with the proxy card. Don't forget that the proxy card is important if you want your vote counted for the upcoming annual meeting this month. See the calendar on this web page for the date.

The board needs a body to fill a seat on the board. Two seats will be elected for new two year terms at this next meeting. We are looking for someone to come forward and help out. Duties will include attending approximately four meetings a year and hearing and voting on issues that come up before the board. If you want to know what's going on, this is a good way to keep informed. If you know a neighbor that you think would be a good candidate, you can nominate him or her. Do it soon so they will have time to put together a bio to be sent out to everyone before the meeting takes place.

Please post any comments here for any questions or concerns you might have about anything you'd like a response on. I'll do my best to give you answers.

Paul I'm glad our community has someone like you that really cares. Thanks for all the hard work and hrs you put in. I'm looking forward to the improvements (ie entrance way clean up/landscape revamp/lake reconditioning/planting project). I know you were not here at the start of the community but some of the landscaping just does not make sense. Such as planting trees (not hedges) approx 3 ft from one another all along the outside wall. Did they really think these trees would never grow. I'm confused! The pine trees are very messy and should be pulled. I believe this would allow the oaks room to grow and lesson the mess. Hey who knows maybe we can even sell the pines to another community.

Buc Man, thanks for the kind comments. I'm looking forward to the improvements also and hope we can get things done sooner than later but, these things take time.

I grew up with pine trees in a back field. The sap was always getting on me and it took me a while to figure out that kerosene or lighter fluid would get it off of me and my clothes. Pines attract lightning and I saw a lot of them hit and turn brown and die. I hate oaks as they bust up walls and sidewalks and lots of people including myself are allergic to the pollen. I know these trees are native to Florida and that's probably why people use them but, I'm for northern trees. They seem to be much more friendlier. Maybe we can toss around the subject of replacing all the trees. Something to bring up at a board meeting and discuss.

Buc Man, have you considered running for the board this time? We have two positions up for election.

Being on the board won't work for me as I never know what my schedule is going to be. However, I plan to attend meetings when I can and will volunteer to aid the board if needed. Thanks for the offer.
