This day, March 16, 2010, the new traffic signal has been turned on. It took months for the installation. We watched it being put in place little by litte. We all wonder if it's going to be better or worse for the intersection. I noticed right away the little sign on our side of the intersection that states, 'No Turn On Red'. I immediately called the traffic department and had them open a ticket for my complaint, for what that's worth. There have been no studies that would warrant this. Yes, the turn is bad because of the cars zooming around the bend from North direction, we all know that. But, what of the times when it's not busy? Do you want to have to sit there when it's plainly free to turn with no car coming? Yes, it's risky as there could be a car come around that corner faster than the speed limit. But, I've had nobody rear end me yet and I'll take my chances, please.
Here's the traffic department number in case you want to file a complaint. 744-5670. Save it in your cell under 'Traffic Dept.'. The least the county could do is do a study and put some hours on that sign. As for the cameras, I believe those are for traffic patterning to control the changing of the lights. I for one will be ignoring the right turn on red only sign for now.

Will this traffic light benefit you? If not, who do you think it benefits?
Will there be more noise for the residents at this corner?
All questions I'm sure some are asking.
