As for any increase in the HOA fees I'm all for anything that will help maintain or improve the community.

I'll go along with you on that and I believe most others will also.

However, I feel we do need to enforce more violations and fine (or inform who can) the individual home owners that felt it was ok to dig out the pond or use such to water their lawn.

I don't know if the property management was informed of this or not. When I was made aware of it and saw it with my own eyes I really didn't know what to make of it at first. That was almost two years ago. The water is so high now that we wouldn't be able to see anything at this time. So, we wait until we can inspect for it when the water receeds and then we'll inform the management company and ask that they issue a violation letter.

Does this mean all other residents that pay for water are idiots for doing so? It's really insulting that they did such and they should be fined or at least singled out!

Absolutely not. It only means that some people are just ignorant of the fact that they are not supposed to be sticking a pump into the pond and pumping water onto their lawns. As for being insulted, let's just take it as a lesson this time.

Also I know with the economy the way it is alot of residents won't be spending or performing landscaping improvements this scares me as I know they will blame the long cold winter.

This may be true and yes, we can blame the long cold winter at this time. However, with some reminders and encouragement from each other maybe we can all eventually get our lawns back in shape before long.

However, most of the residents that do so haven't done much for years prior.

There will always be those. I keep hoping for a regular newsletter to remind residents of thier obligations as homeowners. I think each day I visualize a newsletter but I just can't seem to sit down long enough to pound one out, let alone begin one. I wish we had someone in the neighborhood who was good at that and could do it for us.

Maybe we can circulate a flyer with coupons for home depot/lowes and attach suggestions for what types of plants/shrubs are durable in droughts/cold climates as well as economical.

Excellent idea. You're thinking along the lines I have been thinking. The newsletter I've been thinking of would offer advertisements also to help defray the cost of the newsletter. There are so many different helpful reminders and tips and shortcuts and different things I think of that I'd like to put in a newsletter, that I need to start writing them all down. I foget some faster than I can think them up. Just more time is all I need....don't we all?
