On Monday evening, 1 October 2007 around 7:30 PM, someone set fire to the slide in Suday Park. The slide is damaged and parents are urged to prevent their children from playing on the slide potion of the playset.

The Board of Directors are searching for repair parts for the playground equipment.

If you know anything about this incident, please call 311 or 704-432-3970 and leave a message for Officer Jeff Miller or Officer Zeru Chickoree. The Board of Directors also has a standing reward leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects.

This was 3-4 years ago...playground equipment still sits damgaged, vandalized, graffiti...just remove it; get rid of the eyesore.  Also, remove all the picnic tables...they serve no purpose except to give thugs a place to smoke their dope.

My brothers and I use the picnic tables when we are home from school for hanging out, eating, etc... all of which are legal activities. Don't just get rid of them. Would you rather just have an empty field than a nice picnic area?

right on! i think it's a great opportunity AND responsibility to have some kind of communal space as a neighborhood. maybe the thugs would think twice about smoking their dope there if the place was full of multi-generational peeps all the time, eating, reclining, laughing, playing... maybe they'd even join us for a game of cornhole!!
