Hello all,
At our last meeting a number of ideas were discussed for how to spend our $1750 on NIP funding. Several good ideas were mentioned and we will be having a vote at our next meeting, this Wednesday, March 16th. The board has narrowed it down to two primary options and two fallback options. It was requested that a Pros and Cons statement be prepared. Below is that statement. I hope you find it useful and I also hope to see you at our next meeting.
Sincerely,
John Silveira - President

(BHNA) NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT SUGGESTIONS FOR 2010/2011
PRIMARY USE OF NIP FUNDS: OPTION 1: 20 Street Sign Toppers OPTION 2: A Combination of Street Sign Toppers and Neighborhood Watch Signs SECONDARY USE OF NIP FUNDS: Option A: Community Garden Option B: Allow the money to return to the General Fund *The board feels that the following items should not be pursued, at this time: 1.
Skycrest Elementary Orchard Donation : The funding goal for the project has been reached.
2 .
Additional Access to Kingswood Elementary from Kingswood Drive
: We all feel that this is a wonderful suggestion, however, it would involve more time than we have to complete a project, this year.
-*Suggest separate Committee to be formed to pursue project details involving both the School and City entities as Kingswood Elementary would be required to contribute at least 50% of the total project funds in order for REACH and the City to approve use of the NIP funds. The San Juan School District current budget cuts also must be taken into consideration.
3 .
Neighborhood Bulletin Board
: This type of project requires a sizeable amount of planning between the City, Parks & Recreation District, any Sports Teams/Organizations that use the park, along with BHNA Representatives. We do not have enough time to plan for this project to be able to utilize the 2010/2011 fiscal year funds.
