YES IT'S NICE TO HAVE A POOL TO COOL OFF IN BUT IF YOU ARE USING YOUR WELL WATER YOU ARE DEPLETING WHAT WATER WE ALL HAVE. WE DO NOT HAVE RENWABLE WATER AND WITH YOUR POOL SUCKING UP HUNDREDS OF GALLONS YOU ARE A BIG PROBLEM TO THE WATER SUPPLY FOR ALL. BE RESPONSIBLE AND HAVE WATER TRUCKED IN. THERE ARE TWO NEIGHBORS THAT HAVE USED THE WELL WATER TO FILL. DOES SOMEBODY KNOW HOW TO GET THE WORD OUT FOR BEST WAYS ON POOLS?
I can understand your concerns about excess water usage to fill swimming pools but I am guessing that when it comes time to empty the pool for cleaning etc... the water would at best be used for lawn or landscape watering. No one would drain their pool into their septic system unless they are clueless about how a leeching field works.
You might be less concerned about how the aquifer is used in your neighborhood once you understand that the towns of Parker and Castle Rock are using the same aquifer for all industrial and household water. Then there is the Aurora reservoir (soon to be joined by the Rueter Hess reservoir) that has been pumping thousand of gallons of our well water per day since 1990 for recreational, industrial, swimming pools, landscaping, household etc...
Conserving water is always the best coarse but I hesitate to criticize a neighbor when I see Aurora or Parker building yet another golf coarse.
