Barking Dogs

Posted in: UHRA
Has anyone else noticed the increase in dogs barking during the late night hours? It has got to the point where you can't even go to bed with the windows open unless you're willing to listen to a dog bark all night long. Case in point, the residents of 3760 Valleylights went on vacation in late August leaving their Great Dane to bark all night long for over two weeks. And here it is 2am on a Wednesday morning and I'm listening to a barking dog at 1430 Valley View. I'm tired of it. It's going to stop. I've begun a petition process with the city of Pasadena District Attorney's office and the Pasadena Humane Society to declare these barking dogs as a nuisance. Once this has happened, the dogs will be removed from the homes. If you are interested in signing the official petition to have these dogs declared a nuisance in a civil trial, please send an e-mail to the above address.

Thank you.

I had the same problem with my neighbors who at first ignored my pleas, but the problem has since subsided. Whilst I agree in principle with action against clear cases of negligence, I wouldn't want to deter dog ownership since there effectiveness as a deterrent is second to none. There are things that can be done about 'nuisance' dogs without taking drastic action.

hello!  i was just wondering how the petition turned out?  did the barking dogs finally stop?  i am facing a similar problem in pasadena and am at a loss for what to do.  my wife and i are sleeping with ear plugs and are bordering on desperation.  the neighbors are lazy and refuse to help at all.  any advice?

We have a similar problem, but with a small dog, at 2288 E. Orange Grove Avenue.  The people go away frequently on the weekend and leave the dog in the yard. It escapes and runs free, barking at night while trying to get back into the house/yard.  All neighbors have informed/begged/warned these people, but they do nothing to correct the problem.  We are considering legal action, too, and would like to exchange information with you
