While this City Code sounds good on it surface, it is an unrealistic code. People have jobs, school ect. People can not stay home all day doing nothing but clearing snow from the walk in front of their house. And if a person could afford to quit their job or hire someone to stay at their house and clear the walk all day then I doubt they would be living in our neighborhood. Lets use some common sense here, something people writing codes generally do not have. While I agree a person should make an effort to clear snow when possible, to keep it clear all day when no 1 is home OR for those working nights, are sleeping is unrealistic

I know that it is the law, but it is not really enforced.  But it is so funny to look down your block to see that the sidewalks that are done are usually people who are older!  Let's be good neighbors and try to keep the sidewalks in a condition that people can walk... especially because we are a walkable neighborhood!

As for your response that it is mostly the older people that have their walks clear maybe just maybe it is because they are the ones that are home all day. Most of us are at work and/or school and can't stay home all day to clear the walks over and over all day long.
