Curb appeal involves more than just keeping your driveway curbs in good order. Curb appeal is one's first impression of your property and your neighborhood. It is the viewpoint of your home from the curb of the street. The neighborhood association is interested in improving the overall appeal and quality of living in Bluff Heights. How our homes ''show'' is important to maintaining a beautiful neighborhood.
While selling his home, a friend of mine asked me for suggestions. I responded: ''Green up the lawn to improve the curb appeal. '' His reply was, ''How?'' I thought he was kidding. My reply: ''Water?'' It simply didn't occur to him to stay on top of the watering. It didn't occur to him how a green lawn affects the overall appearance of a home. He was so used to seeing a yellowing lawn, he had become desensitized to the appearance of his own home.
Paint is also important component of curb appeal, Paint not only adds aesthetic appeal to your home it also protects your home from weather, rot and termites. Yes, even termites. Termites burrow into unpainted, wood surfaces. The newer the wood, the more they like it.t' I.
The neighborhood association understands that not everyone has the money or resources to paint their home. Board members have suggested organizing volunteers to assist seniors on fixed incomes or other owners who may need assistance. Perhaps we could organize a project where the owner supplies the paint, while volunteers supply the labor?? If you, or someone you know, needs assistance and would like to have their home painted, or if you would like to volunteer to paint, please contact a board member.
Many of our neighbors have gone above and beyond the above-mentioned. That's great! Pride of ownership is already apparent in Bluff Heights. We want to encourage the trend!
