Living in Long Beach near the Ocean can be a great life until you find the motorcycles drown out any chance of a peaceful evening particularly on a weekend. The quality of life here is difficult due to the lack of parking for many but when you add the noise it becomes far less attractive.
The people living here tend to move away faster than in most other neighborhoods due to the parking and the noise problems. Yet the city seems to do little but verbal promises. The present councilwomen has done more for parking than the last three council people put together however even that is not enough.
The police give us the impression they would rather watch a motorcycle pass by while shaking the entire area, setting off alarms than issue a citation. They claim to be so ‘busy' chasing criminals, just at the time most motorcycles drive back and forth down Ocean Blvd.
Again, the parking issue along with the motorcycle issue will not be resolved satisfactorily until the community becomes involved. How? I suggest we consider a petition to the City Council requesting a city code with teeth and a Police Department that will enforce the code.
Do I have any takers?
