Who Are The ''Brainwashers''?

Who Are The ''Brainwashers''?

The decision of Sinclair Broadcasting to air an anti-Kerry documentary in late October is a nightmarish recipe of ''creeping fascism, state propaganda, Big Brother and brainwashing.'' So says the unhinged Molly Ivins, giving voice to the outrage felt by her colleagues in the news media.

Liberals are positively panicked at the idea that somewhere, on some station, at some late date, someone will say something negative about John Kerry without a moment for balance on the other side. Let?’s be blunt: welcome to our world, liberals. You?’re all for propaganda and brainwashing when it?’s Dan, Peter, Tom & Co. are spinning wildly in your direction. In your world, a free press is defined as what happens when so-called ''news'' professionals sell liberalism relentlessly like a kitchen gizmo on a late-night infomercial.

Conservatives are used to seeing our leaders hounded and our ideas pounded without any quaint notions of balance or fairness on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, PBS, and so on. This does not occur on one night every four years. It happens on a daily, even hourly basis. TV news stars have foisted Microsoft forgeries on President Bush (CBS), framed his face next to the letters ''I LIE'' (NBC), and composed internal memos declaring that the Bush campaign is a cavalcade of liars and must be exposed as such (ABC).

How dare these partisan hacks at ABC and elsewhere sit pompously in their studios and condemn Sinclair! They have no gauntlet of objectivity to toss at anyone. They accuse others of trumped-up, slanted propaganda? In this Kerry-coddling campaign cycle, the pot has never been blacker before rebuking the kettle.

For most of this year, these left-wing journalists have portrayed John Kerry?’s war years as if he were a combination of Private Ryan, Sergeant York, and G.I. Joe. They have touted his ''chestful of medals,'' and swooned over every replay of his military home movies (yes, the ones he vowed he?’d never use for political gain). Those who remember him differently ?– as a man who went to battle to polish his political resume and then returned home to smear his comrades in the war effort as vandals, rapists, and murderers ?– are not to be defined as ''newsworthy.'' Their views are sometimes questioned, usually condemned, parceled out in half-teaspoons of Swift Vet ad clips. They are never invited to sit for extended interviews with Ted Koppel or Dan Rather.

illyLiberal BuggersFish Sue Bush

The world's whales, porpoises and dolphins have no standing to sue President Bush over the U.S. Navy's use of sonar equipment that harms marine mammals, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday. A three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, widely considered one of the most liberal and activist in the country, said it saw no reason why animals should not be allowed to sue but said they had not yet been granted that right.
''If Congress and the President intended to take the extraordinary step of authorizing animals as well as people and legal entities to sue they could and should have said so plainly,'' Judge William A. Fletcher wrote in an 18-page opinion for the panel. The lawsuit was brought against Bush and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on behalf The Cetacean Community -- defined as the world's whales, porpoises and dolphins -- by their self-appointed lawyer, marine mammal activist Lanny Sinkin. claimed in the lawsuit that the U.S. Navy had violated the Endangered Species Act with its use of long range, low frequency sonar that can cause tissue damage and other injuries to marine mammals. Sinkin could not be reached for comment on the 9th Circuit's decision, which upheld a lower court ruling.

The Proud Legacy of Al Gore

Al?’s Legacy

It?’s difficult to say with certainty what the nation is going to do on November 2. There seems to be a poll that can satisfy any voter no matter his political affiliation, and nobody knows for sure if the states in play are soft red, soft blue, or soft shoe. The only sure thing, even if President George W. Bush scores decisive victories in the Electoral College and the popular vote over John Kerry, is that the Democratic Party will summon the proud legacy of Al Gore and cry foul.

Al Gore served in the U.S. military for a little less than two years. He was a member of Congress for sixteen years and Vice President for eight. Yet when his obituary is written, he will be remembered for being the first man in the history of the Republic to not only refuse to accept the verdict of a presidential election, but hold the nation hostage while attempting to find a judge or judges who would make him President. Gore, it should be noted in this particular political year, is also the first man in history to have conceded the Presidency before he didn?’t concede the Presidency.

Already, Democratic lawyers, hacks, and thugs are circling the wagons and stand at the ready. The Democratic National Committee has issued a memo instructing local party officials to charge voter intimidation ?“preemptively.?” This past Sunday on Fox News Sunday, former Clinton Justice Department henchman Eric Holder implied that the only thing a Bush win on November 2 proves is that the President has managed to steal another election. Jesse Jackson is poised, as he was in 2000, to charge that the quadrennial Jim Crow laws are in effect and black voters have been ?“disenfranchised?” all over the nation.

Should President Bush win again without winning the popular vote, the honorable Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will no doubt be available to lecture the ignorant public on how ancient and useless the Electoral College has become, though she was curiously silent on the subject in 1992 and 1996 when her husband failed on both occasions to win 50 percent plus one of the vote. Her great admirer Paul Begala will no doubt re-word this 2000 quote from his professional bully?’s pulpit on ?“Crossfire,?” where CNN pays him to shill for John Kerry:
