I'd like to congratulate our incompetent dpw for another major faux pas in town. Drive up West Street recently? From Addison Street to just beyond Ridge Athletic Club (3 residences in that half mile stretch), we have a brand new road surface as smooth as a baby's bottom. Who paid for that? Why was that next ont he list? Who decides how to expend hundreds of thousands of dollars to accomplish these commercial roadway users throughways? WE've got Pond Street, Liberty Street, Union Street and many other much heavier traveled roads in town that need immediate attention, yet we stupidly and I STRESS STUPIDLY pave roads that serve people using West Street as a cut through that wasn't even close to the condition of Pond, Liberty and Union Street. Yeh, the obvious answer some cronie will explain is that Pond, Union and Liberty are on the list to be addressed soon with new pavement (we've heard that since 1999 - five years ago). Who's decision was it to spend whatever was spent on this useless stretch of West Street?

Hmm, a newly paved road in front of Ridge Athletic Club? There couldn't possibly be a link between that work and the fact that Ridge has been doling out campaign contributions like there were candy! Oh no, the fact that he's greasing palms at Town Hall AND the State House couldn't possibly be the reason there's a newly paved street in front of his business.

Wasted Precious Dollars
Well, I declare....! Soon, I understand Ridge Athletic Club will be torn down and a new 40B condo complex will be constructed. Don't they have to dig up West Street at that sight to hook up to the utilities to feed that complex? Another new road soon to be demolished by trench scars? Who makes these decisions in town? Greasing palms or not, this was wrong to spend money on road surfacing at this location when soon the road will have to be dug up? Don't people get the drift? Who's neck should be on this chopping block?

Why not
call the BOS or the DPW and ask? Instead of P&M (pissing and moaning) on this board pick up the phone and ask. Hey, you might get a real answer from a real person who knows what is going on.
