The board of selectman did not renew Mr David Shaw's appt to the Braintree Retirement Board. Instead the bos appointed fireman Fred Viola.
What a mistake that was driving out Mr Shaw. I have no angst against Mr Viola but as far as selecting the best person for the job Braintree was indeed best served by having Mr Shaw on the Retirement Board.
It seems that the local politics here in Braintree just has it in for Mr Shaw. Mr Shaw must be the most misunderstood public spirited citizen we have here in Braintree. It's too bad because our local political establishment is driving out a very good public figure who comes to his volunteer public job always learned and prepared.
Just look at our current BOS.
I shudder at the wholesale inexperience on the board. You just have to look at the board and know we have a cast of lightweighted experience on that board.
I have seen Mr Shaw address Town Meeting and set straight TM's complete misunderstanding of basic fundamentals of issues presented before them for a vote. Entire TM can sit there totally bewildered on an issue and Mr Shaw gets up and explains and schools TM so they can better understand what they are voting on.
Good Luck Mr Viola on your term of service on the Retirement Board. Let's hope Braintree is best served with your tenure instead of Mr Shaw's.
