It is not simple, but it is more clearnow than ever before. Thank you Dan Clifford.
The BOA is your enemy residents. That was clearly shown by Mr. Clifford, who spoke on behave of the residents at Monday nights Tax Classification open meeting at Town Hall. He showed the BOA has over the past 4 years chose business over the residents each and every time. When the BOA could have recommended shifting to 159% in 2001 they didn't. When they could have recommended shifting to 175% in 2002 and again 2003 they didn't. This year the bums (Young, Moran, and Cusack)could have recommended 197% and didn't. Instead they recommended increasing residents taxes 11% and decrease business by 6%. It is the Board of Assessors who have recommended sticking it to the residents while giving business and commercial property owners reductions. Thanks to Vincent Joyce and Dan Clifford who have been advocating for the residents, the BOS has now taking cahrge of setting the rates, instead of what once was rubber stamping the recommmendation of the BOA. The BOA members are no friends of the resident's. Thankfully, over the past couple years the BOS has overruled the BOA's recommendations and assisted residents in helping to return the tax burden to a fair and more balanced split. Charlie Kokoros really sheparded it this year. He is keeping his promises to help the residents.
