Ship Yard Tragedy

Posted in: Braintree
Liability & Negligence

Negligent acts committed by any town official by not stopping the partial implosion of the two other gantries at the Shipyard thereby endangering anyone in the proxmity of the third one could reflect poorly on our local inspectors. Obviously, our Planning Board stepped in the way and said here's your permit, but there is a 20 day waiting period before you can do anything. Quincy proceeded in enabling the explosions of two of the gantries to come down. One that remained was in Braintree and it would appear that it remained precarious to anyone in the vicinity including employees in the turret building getting the asbestos cleaned out. The rest is history as two lives were taken because someone screwed up big time. Our Building Inspector condemmed the third gantry and the turret building in December and ordered the immediate razing of both structures. Over a month later, tragedy occurred taking lives and injuring several others. The same inspector who traveled to the super bowl in Jacksonville with the property owner. Now isn't that a coincidence that lawyers will have a field day with? Lives were lost, but their fun wasn't spared now was it?
