Cant loose the contractors
The town would never get plowed. The town doesnt own the machinery and manpower needed to get it done. They would have to hire more employees and buy more equipment.... THAT aint gonna happen.

Over Zealous Effort
WE had but five inches of snow. Our in-house crews were out at crack of dawn with the town's equipment. Private contractors were called in according to my scanner and were still working after dark on Saturday. I live in a nearby community and we had one pass over our streets with this insignificant storm and our crews were home well before dusk. Over kill equates to a cost I would predict of maybe $150,000 for Saturday's snow removal effort when all costs are said and done. We have privates making $60 or $65/hour and we just didn't need them Saturday. Our efforts with our own men should have handled this minuscule snow storm. No wonder we are in financial trouble. No one is watching the store. Bet our DPW director was tucked away far off at his home all day Saturday too in Sudbury!

smart ass
I was referring to last year. I could get out of my house because I shoveled that myself. I couldn't get my car out into the unplowed street. I managed to get to the DPW three days later. Maybe the town should give tax credits to those who aren't get their moneys worth. This past storm was tended to by the sun. It melted what was on the ground. Smart Ass.
