Cart Before Horse Approach
Aren't we putting the ''cart before the horse''. Yes, the landscaping plan had merits and always looks glamorous on easels with charts and drawings, but spending $1.2 million to relandscape by town hall when the town hall itself is akin to the Braintree Dump inside. Employees work in dungeons, unhealthy, crowded and unclean spaces daily. We ask a lot from our employees. Quincy built a brand new city hall about ten or more years ago. Weymouth refurbished inside and outside in that order their town hall. Randolph converted an old high school into a modern town hall. And Braintree is proposing a $1.2 million landscaping plan outside town hall after consultant after consultant have been engaged to cost out what is needed inside Town Hall - a first and higher priority. This is comical government at its best. As a taxpayer who supported the CPA, I regret that support if that is what we're thinking of spending even a dime outside before the inside is brought up to date. Landscaping around what soon will be another vacant town property is another joke on us all. Watson Library given away, BELD property eyesore on Allen Street, half empty Monatiquot School, 5 year empty Torrey Buildings, and the list goes on and on. That's why our leaders don't lead. I want to repeal the CPA if that is leadership. It would be nice, but we're putting the cart before the horse in this instane.
