Town of Braintree

Comcast v BELD

Posted in: Braintree
They don't want to.

With what they are charging, BELD should be returning a profit. They are not cheaper anymore. Their prices are running the same while offering less technology. Comcast as well as other non BELD companies need to answer to stock holders. They can't show a loss either.
Comcast is not an obscure company. They did their marketing at the end of the day. Darkness is inevitable in the winter and so is the fact that most people are home at night. At least those that work. Sometimes Competition allows me to save a few dollars for my family. That is my priority. When BELD employees are held to the same standards as the rest of the employees in Braintree maybe then you'll get my sympathy. They've got themselves a nice little club over there with great benefits.
I can't believe you support a market that doesn't support competition. Is socialism alive and well in Braintree? According to you it should be. Now we have the fools on the BOS (not all of them thank goodness) calling for the Police Chief to investigate COMCAST. I guess our little reps think the State isn't capable of being independent. Now we have to worry about COMCAST suing for deformation of character because the police department is now involved in giving the illusion that something sinister and illegal is happening. I feel bad for Paul Frazier being caught up in this posturing. To the town's shame I envisioned a few members of the BOS not being prepared and informed prior to last night interview. A few are obviously not sophisticated enough to realize certain questions and issues can not be discussed while an investigation is gong. They asked for it, they got it. One last note. Grow up residents. If someone is selling a product that you do not want ''JUST SAY NO''. I am sure you expect our young to follow those words of wisdom. Step up to the plate and set a good example.
Hey Bebe

No, it's not competition when a company offers certain rates to only a select group of people and not to the entire public.

Furthermore, BELD has done a great job over the years in providing electrical service at a nominal price compared to what other communities pay. In addition, the integrity of their service is 2nd to none in as much as we very rarely loose service during storms, something that other communities can't say the same.

So before you go about discrediting BELD, think of the big picture honey.
give the money to whomever you

want, but at least present a credible
point. BELD is town owned/operated.were
you turned down for a job or are you
just being contrary?I'm giving my money to the town, not some far away
conglomerate.i guess it's been awhile since Cablevision left town to be
replaced by Comcast.they have no
interest in our town and the service was just ok.it's America,so do what you will.

You're off your rocker!

And no, I am not a BELD employee.
And I don't want a job from BELD.
If you complain about how cushy BELD employees have it, you have too much time on your hands. Or go complain at the next Light Commissioners meeting.

I have no stake in this town other than being a homeowner.

I'll vote my dollars with BELD.

My statement is and has been Comcast can do whatever they want with their dollars;
But if they are successful driving out BELD, and still return a profit to their stock holders, so be it.

BELD's cable division has to be self supporting and not a drain on the residents. So they have to cover their expenses.

Whenever you mix government and business operations you get a quasi government/business operation. In BELD's case, their mission is to return to the residents a lower priced product that will not be a burden to it's onwership, i.e. the residents.
Yes...that sounds a little like socialism, but if you don't like it you should have voiced your opinion long ago when BELD got into this business.
For that matter...even longer ago when Braintree got into the electic business.

OH....you weren't born yet..too bad.

Enjoy your promotional cut rate cable bills from Comcast, but remember you're saving your family money, right ?

But if BELD has to close down shop, then don't complain to me about your cable bills. Complain to DISH, they'll take your money.

It's not that BELD charges a lot it's the cable companies pay the bigger programming outlet more and more money to bring you the channels you want.
