Save Open Space

Last night about sundown (it was just getting dark out), 6 gunshots were heard by at least 3 witnesses in the 400 block North 40th Street.
A neighbor said he saw someone shooting out on the street in front of his house, yet when asked by a neighbor if he had called the police, said HE did'nt call the police. Another neighbor said he saw a dark colored, almost sure it was black, chevy cavalier type vehicle, speed out of the neighborhood, stopping just long enough to put something in the trunk.
As of this morning in talking with the authorities they are unaware of any arrests or further investigation.
I talked with a V.P.C.A. representitive this morning and was told they would be looking into this matter further with higher authorities with the police department.
It is unexcusable for anyone to be shooting a weapon off in this neighborhood.
I was told if anyone has any further information please call the Milwaukee Police Department District 3 and ask for a Shift Commander:935-7232 and share your information with them.

Shots

The shots were in front of 431 North 40th Street. The guy from the lower unit looked like he was chasing after someone right after the shots were fired.
I hope this was not a drive by shooting aimed at this address. I heard the same guy shouting at another neighbor down the street that came out to see what was going on after the shots were fired. He verbally attacked the guy without any provocation. The guy was totally off his nut. I also heard him say did not call the police.
This is the wrong attitude and makes me concerned what this guys may be into if he would not report shots fired he admittedly witnessed in front of his own house.

Altercation and shots

I had just come home from the store and must have witnessed what happened after the shots were fired. The guy from the 431 was verbally attacking a neighbor instead of having enough concern for him and his neighbors to get in his house asap and call the cops.
He did say I don't call the police after he had told the neighbor someone had been shooting in front of the house.
Not a good neighbor policy.

Gunshots

I am not new to having gun shots on the block a person lives on.
But I want the people in the Valley to know I heard the shots, and saw a car of the descrption given tear down the hill and come back up after the shots were heard, and it did stop long enough to put something in the trunk and tear out again.
The whole situation sounds fishy. It sounds like someone was pissed off at someone on 40th Street and decided to get their attention.
