Is it true that the cameras were purchased through a friend of one of the board members and that bids were not sought?
As long as the prices were fair, who cares who did the sale or install...
I have to agree w/this one. If it saved us $$$ then it shouldnt matter who bought/installed it. I would rather pay $200 than $800 for a camera or $250 than $600 for install. Also, there is too much bickering going on these posts lately folks. I thought we were supposed to be neighborly. |

This is probably too late to save any hurt feelings, but I'll post it anyway. The only time homeowners can vote of any action is at the annual meeting or at a special meeting for a stated issue. The last meeting we had was an "informational" meeting. Its purpose was to find out how homeowners felt about several issues. The BOD will still make the decisions and initiate actions which should be in accordance with our Declaration of Conditions, Covenants, and Regulations which is our governing document. Bylaws are a secondary document, cannot be contrary to the CC&R, are administrative in nature, and not usually filed with the county (and shouldn't cost $2500).

And for many year, many repairs have been by neighbors for neighbors. As long as the work was not shotty and done to code, why not? If you have a friend who is a licensed, you are going to call them first, because you trust them. If we paid for everything full price for what our neighbors have done, our association would be broke. Those who serve on the board have my gratitude. I did my time on the board many years ago, it was hard work and not appriciated. We as a board didn't make everyone happy, but we tried out best, just as our board is now. They need our support, but if you are critical all the time, I guess you can do a better Job. Feburary is coming soon so get on the board and do a better job and see how far you get. |
