According to Stefanie and Real Management, there was never a vote.  Why would you say that the "exact time" was the issue.  The issue is there was never a vote by all the board of directors.  Did all board members see bids?  Were there multiple bids?  Are any board members affiliated with the security camera company in any way?  We have had conflicts of interest from previous boards and would hate to see this issue arise again.   There should be a code of ethics in dealing with vendors.  Am I wrong or should Real Management make certain we are handling these procedures as directed in the C&R's and bylaws?

Who's DVR will be doing the recording?

What is the quality of the video?

What's the definition of a "happening"?

What are the procedures for and Who can request images?

It's just that I've heard a SAPD officer tell one working class single mother, with a recording of a man threatening to kill her, that they don't investigate crimes on private property, and another SAPD officer tell another working class couple, whos car was a victim of a hit and run by a neighbor moving,  that they don't investigate traffic incidents on private property. So, if only certain crimes will get investigated on our private property, then it's up to us to look out for our own, so I wonder what the rules and procedures will be for how the cameras will actually help us.

Line by line

1. no idea, I assume the association bought one

2. depends on the frames per second you set the DVR to record. Quality is based on the cameras which seem low end, but the quality could be as good as regular TV.

3. I am not on the board, but I am a cop and it seems they would be referringto a event where a crime or property damage has occurred.

4. Most security DVR's can be hooked up to the Internetand anyone can go to a web address and watch live feed. I don't know if this was set up or not. If so, and everyone tried to log in it would bog down a homeowners connection so the board would have to pay for Internet and then we would have a monthly expense.

As far as private property crimes.

Private property accidents DO NOT have to be investigated by the police. Alot of police departments will complete an accident report just because your insurance company is going to ask for it, but it does not have to be done. Also, accidents with less than $1000 in damage do not have to have a accidentreport done. All the cop has to do is give you a "blue form", but most will do a report again, just because your insurance company is going to need it.

Your statement indicating that police don't investigate crimes on private property are completely wrong. Thing about it, every home broken into is "private property" every business robbed is "private property" most domestic disturbances happen in a home, IE "Private property" so based on your statement cops could only investigate things that happen in the roadway!!!

It could very well be that the recording was not good enough for a warrant, or maybe the person reporting it was crazy, who knows, also, there are some lazy cops...

I said at the meeting and I will say again I would glady pay double what we pay in dues if we could increase the security around here. That includes limiting access and having working gates.

I agree with this statement for the most part.  Ifit increases security around here, I too would gladly pay double.  On the otherhand, double for some folks (including myself) would be difficult to comebyI truely believe those who don't or can't, will only miss more payments. Then of course a lien will be placed on the property, yadda yadda.

I don't even know what the fee's are, like $30 a month I think. If ONE DOLLAR extra a day is going to break you then you in fact have some serious problems.

@draston: My statements were based on being right next to my neighbors at the time. The hit & run, well, they did get an accident report. The single mom had two girls, one with heart desease, and she was not crazy. The idiot who made the terroristic threat might have been, so I'd go with the lazy excuse if there were an excuse for that kind of discrimination. The cop was being kind of jerky, but evryone knows you don't argue with cops on the street, you only argue with them in civil court.

Anyway, it can't be that hard to keep us informed, and people should know what they can expect. Although, I'd be interested to know if incidents have dropped since the cameras went up.
