The antonym of Extrication... ENGAGEMENT
Indifference meaning...
APATHY
What do you think? As a community of families are you prosperous wither you are a renter or home owner.
If your community has been renovated because it was un-prosperous did you benefit personally as a family of that un-prosperous neighborhood? Do you feel cared for or looked after? Or, do you feel neglected?
Are you comfortable? Rested? Invested?
Is what you see is happening, sentiments
of what is to come?
Do you feel that you are free from what is happening to your neighbors?
Do you believe in what Gentrification is doing for your neighborhood, to be, for the greater good? If so, who's good?
If you feel that moving out un-prosperous community/poor families to replace the neighborhood with prosperous communities/ wealthier families, is what is needed to
care for the neighborhood? ENGAGE!
If you do not think that it is moral, ethical, or right by any standards to move out, force out, maneuver out poor/powerless families who are forced to become uprooted, unstable and or, homeless.
Families who are not given adequate and sufficient aide to make their quality of life better, nor are they being provided housing that is affordable, in that $800.00 may be and opinion for the majority? But not to the poor or even the working poor.
Affordable housing, homes, communities, neighborhoods, are not just for the majority.
ENGAGE!
But, by no mean be indifferent?
If you feel that this reminds you of the gathering of Jewish, Indian and Farm communities.
In where the poor and or, the powerless families were force out and treated less than human or second class citizens. Some, even blamed for the deterioration of their communities in where improvement or reformation came as genocide/holocaust, trail of tears, and the plight of the farmer. In the name of Beauty, The Civilized, Power, but who?’s and at what cost?
If it is in your power to do good to your neighbors why hold back your hand? ENGAGE!
Because those who have the power to do evil/injustice are not holding back theirs, their not even changing the plan just changing the wording but, the outcome is bound to be the same? If we remain to be indifferent.
While we who are comfortable, for now, we who say... we are good people, we who say... we are Christians, we who say... love is the ultimate gift and harmony and balance are the virtues of life? have chosen to turn a blind eye and to deny others, the little ones, the elders and the young, what we want and have for ourselves.
A community, stability, food, clothing, SHELTER.
How long will it be?
How long before it happens to your family?
How long did it take for us who thought we were safe? While we watched surrounding communities disappear, their families disappear(they must have went somewhere? But where?
Do you think it will not effect your neighborhoods?
My suggestion, if you are unsure? educate yourself on the facts and weigh the cost of indifference, as you ask your neighbors who have and is suffering from it's outcome.
Gentrification, what does this word mean to them?
