A Simple Life (Brookhill's Past)

Brookhill Village was build in 1951. At a time where there was still use for out-houses, and some people relied on Horse & Buggy to travel up and down Charlotte's dirt roads. People lived a more simple life on one hand. On the other a very nightly life with dinners, pool halls, hog pens and carnivals. These were only some of the big attraction for the local youth and young adults. It was a place were you could leave your door open. And family time and togetherness meant a lot, black or white.

Brookhill At Present

Brookhill a City With A City? As, it is now described by the City Of Charlotte. Holds more than 800 residents and has over 400 housing units. Today it's only a dim shadow of its reflection of the 1950's. Our families and communities of today are face with overwhelming obstacles. Drug use and Crime are issues for every neighborhood. But, the problem comes when we choose not to recognize and change the negative impact of these serious issues. For some of us it is true we would rather live in it than, change it. But, for the most part Brookhill Community resident has had, in the past (for the most part) positive re-enforcement from their Management Team as well as the Leaders of the Community. Together there's nothing we can't accomplish for our children and our families. Steadily we're making positive changes and connections within the community at large to bring service into our neighborhood. We're at present, truly a Neighborhood In Motion.

Brookhill's Future

We the Brookhill Community Leaders are and will be working with others, partners and service providers in the effort once again to be a livable, peaceable and loving community.
