HISTORY OF BMHOA

The Brownhurst Manor Homeowners Association is now in its 19th year of existence.

The first meeting of Brownhurst Manor Homeowners Association was held on November 3, 1994 at the Worthington Firehouse on Murphy Lane.  The subdivision became Brownhurst Manor after the subdivision of 88 houses were turned over to the Association by Ben Peter of Peterbuilt Homes.  Peter developed the subdivision on what was farmland on Chamberlain Lane.

The first officers of the association were President, Dan Withrow; Vice President, Gene Luker; Secretary, Jim Phillips: Treasurer; Rita Owens; and Trustee, Larry Doll.  Dan Withrow resigned and Gene Luker became President; Vice President, Larry Doll; and Trustee, Kim Kleinstuber.

Brownhurst Manor is located in the northeast corner of Jefferson County, Kentucky.  It is convenient to I-64, access to Evansville IN and Lexington KY; I-65 access to Indianapolis IN and Nashville TN; I-71 access to Cincinnati OH; I-264 (Watterson Expressway) is the inner beltway around Louisville; and I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) is the outer beltway around Louisville.

Brownhurst Manor is15 minutes from downtown Louisville.  There is easy access to arts and entertainment at 4th Street Live, Churchill Downs, Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, Kentucky International Convention Center, Kentucky Opera, Kentucky SCIENCE Center, KFC
Yum! Center, Louisville Fairgrounds, Louisville Slugger, Louisville Slugger Field, Louisville Zoo, Tinseltown Movie Theatre, and W L Lyons Brown Theatre.

There is easy access to Jefferson Mall, Oxmoor Mall, Paddock Shops, Shelbyville Road Plaza, and The Mall of St. Matthews.

There is easy access to a level one-trauma hospital U of L Hospital, Baptist Health, Jewish Hospital, James Graham Brown Cancer Center, Kosair Children's Hospital, Norton Healthcare, and the world renowned Kleinert Kutz Hand Care.

There is easy access to many bars and restaurants, any type of cuisine to fit your taste or mood can be found in Louisville.  The Olmstead Parks is composed of 19 parks with the grand design by Frederick Law Olmstead.

There is easy access to great private and public K through 12 schools; Jefferson Community & Technical and Spencerian colleges; and Bellarmine, Spaulding, Sullivan, and University of Louisville
universities.
