Quality Hill 2009 Meetings Posted: 16 Jan 2009 12:52 PM CST Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying the winter season! As you may or may not have heard, St. Joseph's will most likely be closing its doors this year. I am going to look into the estimated time frame of this. Once I have more info, I'll create a schedule for 2009 meetings and send that out to everyone, indicating where we will be meeting. Perhaps the most obvious option would be in a St. Ray's building, though I am not sure how late they are open, on which days, etc. For the time being we should still be able to use the basement of St. Joe's, though I'm not sure for how long. More info to come on all of this. Look for meetings to startup again in late February. Wow...I did not have a clue...shows how it affects so many others...and didn't Ernies soup kitchen move there from downtown? Still there or also to be tossed out?

Before one speculates as to which church is to close be careful with the limited information given.  I have heard from sources close to the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen that either/ or a combination of the following churches would face merger:  St. Joseph's, Sacred Heart, or Our Lady of Consolation.

Nevertheless, I would be surprised if St. Joseph's would be the choice to close due to its fairly wealthy financial status as opposed to the other two churches.

However, be careful of the nature of conjecture.  I really believe the parishoners of St. Leo the Great did not do their school any benefit when rumors were spread throughout the 2000's of the demise of the school.  As a result, parents were hesitant to send their students there.  Closing with 140 students was the only option left for the parish in 2008.

I have heard the rumors for awhile that they- St Joes was closing and in this economic c,imate anything is possible. It does seem starnge with the resources they have there and the multiple congregations there but I guess we must stay tuned.
