Henry V. Butler acquired this land [see boundaries]on July 26th, 1902. It was farm land and only a few homes existed at that time.

On March 31st,1926 the land was subdivided and recorded as Henry V. Butler's High Ridge Extension Addition to the City of Columbus. It remained in his possession until his death
February 29th, 1936.

In review of his will we can get the impression that he was a devoted family man and a good neighbor. The will shows that Mr. Butler forgave all debts owed him and left his horses, harness and vehicle as well as cash not only to family but his neighbors as well.

Butler's High Ridge has continued with the same attributes as existed some 74 years ago. Residents who move in seldom leave and many have been here 20 and even 40 years. 1 resident has been here since 1933.

We appreciate the diversity of the neighborhood as well. The variation in the homes, streets and each other allow us to grow and learn and remain an open minded community. We are also protective of each other knowing that we are our most valuable asset.

It is an honor and a privilege to live in a neighborhood where a hand shake still means something, and a promise made is a promise kept.

Henry Butler set the standard of caring for family, friends and property and it continues here today as it did then.

About our association

Winter 2007 Update

It sounds like Dominion Homes is pulling out of their proposed neighborhood at Wheatland Park. However it's also noted that City Officials are confidant they'll find a replacement.

Our neighbors to our north, Highland Village, have a new website. www.highlandvillagesociety.com
They are bound by Sullivant, Columbian, Broad, and Hague, and also the area just south of Valleyview.

Also, sounds like the new West Mound Elementary will be finished sometime in early 2007.

The Sunday, October 2nd edition of the Columbus Dispatch featured some interesting news about revitalization in the Hilltop. If you already have an account with The Dispatch, you can view the articles online, or at library.
Also, there have been some long overdue improvements made the Central Point Shopping area. You can find a little more info about the developers at www.castoinfo.com


Useful links have been added that will benefit those living in Butler's High Ridge and anyone else living in the Columbus area. Also, you can view a draft of the West Broad Street Economic Development Strategy. It lays out a plan to revitalize Broad Street between Terrace and Wheatland Avenues.

Our Neighborhood Association structure is currently based on majority issues and majority votes. Each of the 312 homes (if occupied) are entitled to 1 vote on any matter that may effect their home.

We are reviewing information for a switch to a Neighborhood Civic Association structure. This will allow a panel of representatives made up of residents from each street.

Since we believe that each resident has a voice we will maintain the current structure of "majority rules" but the Neighborhood Civic Association would act as a better funneling system for information and records as well as represent The High Ridge to any other Counsels, Commissions, Organizations, or other that may make decisions that could impact our area.
