So... Where are these stray cats?.. Has anyone used a live trap yet?... How do you feel about these cats?

As far as I know, most of the cats are feral (wild). I have been taking care of a female for over a year now. She had two litters of kittens, that I know of. Last October I contacted the Humane Society of Huron Valley's TNR (Trap, Neuter and Release) program. They came out and trapped six of seven kittens and the mother. They took them back to their clinic and spayed all of them and returned them the next day. I had tamed two of the kittens (a little female and her brother) and they were living on our property. They lived in a heated dog house for a good part of the winter, that is until my neighbor set a trap. We lost the male, but the female is now a part of our family. Momma Kittie still comes around every day to be fed. I don't mind the cats. It's not their fault they are out there. It is the fault of some irresponsible humans who have let their pets (non spayed or neutered) roam or have abandoned them. I know of another neighbor on Queens Way who is feeding several cats. We spoke to him about having the HSHV come out and trap them, but he didn't want that to happen. Unfortunately the problem will only get worse. Trapping is not the answer. I don't know what our neighbor is doing with the cats he traps. We contacted the police and they tell us there is nothing we can do to stop him. Here is the link for HSHV. They also have links on their site to other information about feral cats. |
