Presidents Report
Dear Neighbors,
CONA has taken on many worth wild challenges this year and everyone
should be proud of the things that were accomplished. We all look back
over this year and hope that we have made a difference in our
neighborhoods.
At the November meeting we accepted nominations for our 2000 Executive
Board. All previous board members were nominated for the same position
except for 1st Vice President and Brent Fisher was nominated to fill
that position. Because there was only one person nominated for each
position, all nominations were elected by acclamation. Brent served on
the Membership Committee and the 2000 Leadership committee this past
year. As President I would like to welcome Brent to the Executive Board.
Be sure to attend the December Board Meeting. At this meeting every
neighborhood is encouraged to give a report on what their neighborhood
has accomplished in 1999. It is always interesting to see how much our
great neighborhoods have done.
On Dec 18th and 19th the city is going to have a Holiday Open House at
Sunken Gardens. This event is a sneak preview to show what has been done
since the city has taken over ownership. The event is free to the
public, so we hope that everyone will attend. Remember the neighborhoods
played a big part in preserving the gardens.
Don't forget that on January 1st ?“Y2K?” is supposed to hit. Just in case,
it might be a good idea to fill your gas tank in your car, get a little
extra food, and a little extra water. We all got prepared the last time
there was a hurricane warning and it never happened. I hope that will be
the story for ?“Y2K?”, it doesn't hurt to be prepared. Hopefully we all
will wake up on the 1st to another beautiful day in our city.
It's been a great year to be your President. Everyone have a Merry
Christmas, and a Happy New Year.
Your neighbor, Jim Biggerstaff
